  The church was lovely and bright and there was a modern feel to a traditional church. The liturgy was wordy and boring. The people afterwards seemed friendly but the pastor did not speak to us which, for a small church, seemed "standoffish" but I'm sure they get lots of visitors. I asked the music director if they ever did a blended worship service with a mix of traditional and contemporary praise music. He apparently is completely unaware of a whole genre of music and asked me what it was. His idea of contemporary praise music was traditional music done by contemporary musicians or composers. Given the fact that contemporary praise music has been around for decades and given the fact that this person is being paid to be the music director of this church, I would expect a certain element of professionalism and with that, a dedication to keep up with what is happening in modern worship. There are reasons why traditional churches are dying off and I think a big part of that is holding on to traditions that seem irrelevant to modern society (get rid of the robes already!) and refusing to embrace new worship styles.
